Farmall A grill emblem

Hello. I am looking to get a replacment grill emblem for my Farmall A. All of the ones that I have seen so far are not painted. Were the original ones pained black in the background with the FARAMLL chrome? Please let me know. Want to get his feature correct when I restore my tractor. THANKS ALL

The ones I have seen are aluminum. I paint the indented part of the emblem black and let the raised part unpainted aluminum because that is how I remember seeing them when I was a kid.

I don't know if that is "original" or not, but it looks right to my memory.

From what I can tell the a and b,bn where all aluminum with out black paint on them. I bought one for my bn and it has the black paint in the back ground and it looks great(which later I was told this was for a h or m). All IHC sites cannot really tell the correct paint or even the placement of the decals so I think it really is up to you.

Todd, if the emblem fits on your A or B, then it is NOT for an H or M, as those emblems are much larger.

Both styles are available for the A and B. Painted and unpainted.

All the pics in the WHS archives of Farmall As, and Bs, have a black background. You dont see any with the paint on them now because the maker is cheap!

Sorry can not agree All of them I have ever seen had no as in zero black paint from the factory and even as a kid I do not remember ever seeing any with any paint on them and that was back 400 plus years ago

I looked at a lot of tractors while restoring the A with my dad and I believe that originally the emblems on the A were all aluminum and were not painted black like the H and M were. Had an original cast aluminum emblem and had no signs of black paint on it at all.
