Farmall A PTO seal

I ordered a PTO seal from my local Gehl dealer (used to be IH so they have all the parts books and can order) and they gave me two seals. I am a little confused about them giving me two seals. Like a dummy I didn"t check to see if they were different sizes last night to see if they were for different I.d. or O.D. My dad pick the seals up so I was not able to ask the guy behind the counter.
The IPTO on the "00 series was just one double lipped seal, any ideas why they gave me two for the A? This place usually is very good with older tractors.

The newer seals are thinner and better than the old thick ones. Some, including me have used 2 seals with grease in between them. I doubt if two are better than one, though. Also, the belt pulley has one, and the PTO has one-they have different part numbers.

I was thinking maybe the other one was for the belt pulley also but, I told them mine has the belt pulley delete cover. Oh well. I will keep the other one as a spare if the B loses the seal for the pulley, if that is what it is for.

If they are the same then he figured you will put two in as they are thinner than original and sometimes two can be used.

I just replaced the seal for the belt pulley shaft(not the PTO) on my Super A. That seal had 2 components. There was a inner oil seal and a outer dust seal. But this was all one unit. When I bought a new seal they sold me two separate oil seals. One to act as an oil seal and the other to act as a dust seal. I am not sure if the PTO seal is the same type of situation or not.
