H counter shaft seal {transmission}

I just got my new countershaft seal and it is half the thickness of my old one, I have enough room to put another seal, is that a good idea.
Thanks for any help.

Jeryy - You can install two of the thinner seals but there's really no need to. Suggest instead to mount a single seal, positioning it so the lip runs on an unworn section of the countershaft.

It's how I did the countershaft and input shaft seals my Super H, also the brake shafts on my MM UTU. None of the thin seals has ever leaked a drop!

I've seen where a lot of guys say you need to double up on the seals. The reason new seals are thinner is because of the technology and the advances made in the material the seal is made out of. If you double up on the seals you're not allowing and lubricant to get to the outer seal and it will basically just "wear" or "burn" itself away.

Yep I had the same thing. just make sure you press it all the way down in the housing and you'll be good. and if you took the hydro pump out to get the end off watch out its a real toe smasher ha
