I have a farmall M i am restoring and I need to purchase a new serial tag. My original one is missing but i was able to pull of the numbers on the engine to find it was a 1948. What other information will i need to get a plate? Also where do i get these plates at?

I think Steiner has them. You'll need a tool to fasten the new one to the tractor.

Also, even though the engine serial number told you the year; I don't think its the actual serial number of the tractor. I'm not 100% sure, but I think thats the way it is.

M chassis serials do not match the engine serials. D Slater or someone may be able to get you close.

That depends on what year the M was made. The chassis number and the engine number on my 1940 M do match.
