706G question

The engine size should be stamped on the left side of the crankcase on a pad below the distributer housing. The serial # will be followed by the engine size such as c263.

The number is not stamped. It's actually cast as part of the block. The numbers protrude from the block.

A 706 will either have a C263 (1964-1966) or a C291 (1967). Dates are approximate.

I don't think I've ever seen any size numbers cast in the block on those engines. Since the C221 uses the same block as the C263 there would be no way to know what size the engine would be when the block was cast.
