400 Rear End Oil

I screwed up and put 80/90 in the rear end of my 400. I since found out it is supposed to have hytran in it. Do you think it will be a problem??

Does your tractor have a TA? If it does you should have Hytran in it. If not, you are fine with the 80/90.

It has a non functional TA. I suppose it won't hurt it. I need to use the tractor and the money tree is plum shook dry right now.

If your TA was working, it will probably stop working. But take heart, you haven't damaged it. Replace the oil.

If the TA wasn't working, I wouldn't go to the expense of changing it until you fix the TA.

My 400 ran for years with something that looked like roofing tar. The previous owner (first one) probably dumped the factory oil after delivery. After I bought the tractor, I changed the oil and the TA started working fine.

Actually it won't hurt as long as you DON'T use the TA - especially when its below 80 degrees.
