farmalls at auction today

I went to an auction today that was semi local to see about a farmall 1206 and a super A with woods mower. The 1206 had 6800 hrs, lights didn't work and small parts missing here and there and didn't run the smoothest. It sold for 16900.00. A farmall M with a narrow front went for 6000.00 and didn't seem that special. The A was in average shape and sounded ok and sold for 5000.00. There really wasn't any high pressure bidding either as all the equipement started at a high price.I really don't understand how this stuff is going so high priced or is it just me?

Those prices seem way out of line - something "fishy" going on it appears. What is the general location where this auction was held as maybe some of us need to bring a few loads of tractors there as those buyers must not have anything else to purchase, Hal.

Can't speak for the 1206, but everything else seems about double. They are even pretty high if the stuff was restored.
For reference:
Farmall Cub with belly mower (Good cond) $2200
Farmall 400 (Good+ cond) $2150
Case 970, 3300 hours calf crap color standard trans cab w heat $5X00
Case 970, white color cab w heat powershift $3100
JD 6600 Combine, low hours good cond $1700
JD 7700 Combine, good cond, great tires, new parts $4200
This was SE Wis on 08-20-10. The prices might not be dead on, but they are where they were hanging when the bidding stopped.

I just bought a '45 A with all 4 new tires and running for $1500 at an auction here in northern MN today. The '40 M that was there went for $800...poor rear tires but running condition. Sounds like that auction was way off the charts!

Rather large consignment auction this weekend in Leland, Il.. Bill lists about 9 Farmalls so far. M, H SH, WD, Cubs and a few others. I've got my eye on a 2 bottom IH Farmall plow and a 3 bottom available also. Looks like I better hook up the flatbed just in case. Will be interesting to see what the tractors go for. All are supposed to be in good shape.
