Farmall H stalls under load

My buddy has a Farmall H that stalls out under load. Will run in first gear at low rpm. Give it any throttle and it dies. will not run at all in any other gear. Where is the best place to start?

The carb on my H sticks so it will run at idle but then give it the throttle and it completely floods it out. If it is doing this there shout be gas leaking back through the hose connected to the the breather. Another check would be to disconnect the gas line and see if you are getting good flow to the Carb. I had a Farmall c that would only idle and the gas line was almost clogged.

yes there was gas coming out the breater tube. But he had removed the carb, cleaned and flushed it. this did take care of that but it still wont run properly. it will start but theres no power after its running.

Plugged tank to sediment bowl connection,
Plugged screen in sediment bowl,
Plugged fuel line, Plugged screen at carb inlet.
Plugged seat for inlet needle.
Low float level.
Plugged main Jet.
Missing venturi.
Plugged main load needle (bottom front of carb)it is usually out about four full turns from light seating. Jim

Its starving for gas...if you've got good flow from the tank, then the carb needs proper adjust, clean and rebuild...once done, start with adjust screws 1.5-2 turns out from seated.
If he already cleaned it, he missed something.

Open that main jet adjusting scr/w near the bottom of the carburetor. That will enrich the fuel mixture. Even garden tractors have that feature. If that doesn't help blow out the jet with air pressure. Hal

Just for giggles, when it stgarts turn off the gas and paly with the throttle. If it gets better before running out of gas, then its flooding. If it doesnt get better, its not getting enough fuel.

you should also take a minute and check the air cleaner to make sure it is not plugged. Take the oil cup off the bottom, and check it. you can also take the air tube off before you check the air cleaner, and see if that makes a difference.

Just something else to check.
