hyd oil leaks on 574

If my pic loads, it will help here. On the top of the case on my 574 shown, there are what look like rivet heads? One of these weeps hyd oil all the time. JB weld around it? The other leak is from the equalizer valve between the 2 brake cylinders. Are there o-rings in it that can be replaced? Thanks -

Hi Mike, there is an O-ring kit available for the equalizer. It may or may not fix the problem if the brake cylinders are worn.
Re JB Weld on leaking rivets, I have only used JB Weld one time many years ago and it worked for my application. I would imagine that all traces of hydraulic oil will have to be removed before JB Weld will adhere.

I think what you are referring to as a rivet is the top side of the weld on the pivot pin for the shift detent arm. Since it leaks most likely the cause is a crack from the pin flexing. You would be better served by adding weld to strengthen the joint.

Well, here's an update - I about sweated to death this afternoon tearing this apart, I've been too busy with the tractor to tie it up. Good thing there's a kit for that valve Jim, 45.00 for it. To replace the unit is 690.00. Me and the parts man at Columbia had a good laugh about that. The rivet head I did the JB on, it's not a pressure leak, it should be fine. Seal kit won't be here until Tuesday.

The reason I suggested to reweld the cover where it is leaking is because the crack developed from metal fatigue due to the pin flexing. When it gets bad enough it will break out completely. When that happens you will need to remove the whole cover to make the repair. If you weld it now you could be saving a lot of trouble in the future.
