I went to go use my Super MD with a friends NH 474? haybine the yesterday. I hooked up the remote and when i pulled back the lever on the side of the hydraulic res it would raise it just fine, but when i released it the would not hold it up. Are there check valves inside the res that are possible stuck or do i need to run a spool valve of some sort with this system as my check point?

thanks for the help

Andrew

I believe the system should hold when in the mid position of the lever. If it does not, and there are no leaks to the outside, and the cylinder on the equipment is not bypassing internally, the internal valve may be worn. Is it a two way (two hose) connection to the haybine? If so, raise it, block it up with a floor jack, and disconnect the hydraulics. Let it down and see if it lowers on its own. If so it is the cylinder.
Adjustment of the rod might be needed, but is usually not the issue. Pull the rod out just a smidge to see if the stop is out of place. Not to the point that it puts load on the pump, just enough to see if it is getting into the lower position of the rod. Jim
