Farmall H Engine Stands Needed!

Hubbard Red

I have a number of good Farmall H engines that I want to fix up and was wondering if I can install them on regular automotive engine stands. Will they fit without much trouble? I need to remove them from the rest of the tractor hulk so I can bring them inside to work on them. Will a standard automotive engine stand work?

Thanks,

Scott

Yes they will work with out much trouble. You may only be able to catch 3 out of the 4 points with out making some modifications to the stand. However 3 out of 4 points is just fine. Iv had anywhere from Cubs to M engines on common stands. Just a side point make sure its a decent quality stand. Those cast iron blocks are sure heavier then cast aluminum blocks of todays cars.

They make 750lb stands, 1000lb stands, and 2000lb stands...

Guess which one you should be using...

I bought an engine stand from the Mac tools dealer, I think it's rated for 1200 lbs. and cost around $200. I have had a C152 and a C175 block on it and all four mounting bolts fit just fine.

I have a cheapo engine stand from I think Cummings tools, they come around selling stuff like that in a big truck, I think I paid 20 bucks for it,could have been a lil more but not much,it works perfectly, has had several Farmall H and M engines on it, a Farmall A engine and 4 or 5 8n engines, no troubles with anything other then its a lil hard to turn the engine over so I made a longer shaft for it and now it turns fine. Harbor freight makes a cheap useable one,did 3 race car engine on the one I got from harbor frieght before someone stole it,all 3 engines were 350 chev engines.

Yes, it will work fine. Remember to space it out enough to clear the dowel pin on the end of the crankshaft.
