wiring for Farmall M

Most of the wiring in my light switch box and to the main switch on my M is starting to crack and get bare spots so its time for some new wiring. I have a 12 volt alternator with one wire to the switch so I don't want to spend the money for a wiring harness. What type and gauge of wire should I use. The tractor sits outside all the time so I need wiring that will hold up to the weather. I'm assuming I need 12 gauge wire?

The wire sizes and other elements are contained in these diagrams. 10 gauge wires for the alt and all connections from its lug terminal, through the amp meter, and from there to the starter switch, 12 gauge to all remaining is not bad idea. Try to use the same color as original if possible. please don't use all one color! Jim
