I have a 48 Super A the block is cracked behind carb. Does JB weld work good and if so how do i go about doing it?

Im not sure that Jb would do the job it might work due to the fact that the cooling system is not pressurized But cast Iron is decieving stuff
and the crack might go much further than it appears you should trace the crack and clean all the paint off at least six inches in the direction of the crack Welding would be a better
solution However cast iron should be heated to several hundred degrees at the region of the crack in order to burn out any moisture(You will
need to drain the block)and a special high nickle rod must be used you can buy these at any welding supply shop you should only need a couple
I would try JB first (cheap and easy)Dont forget clean and very dry!!
hope this helps!

I've seen these repaired with JB weld (or similar product), brazing, and welding. Welding would be best, but you need someone that knows how to weld the cast iron. I'd try the JB weld first If you clean it up and dry it really well, I think it will likely work for a while at least.

I have one cracked and was told to use the black sealer they put around windshields. Thats what Im going to use clean it up real good. Take a grinder and grind a v in the crack and apply. Hope this helps.
