B450 Diesel

What part of the country are you in? The Farmall B-450 was only sold by IH in the Memphis District (Mississippi & Arkansas Deltas) and in certain parts of Texas. They have gotten scattered around but there never were many of them relative to other IHC models of the time. The Farmall B-450 is basicly a modern version of a Farmall Super M with a built in three point hitch, differential lock, and a direct start diesel. There was also a International B-450 which was a upgraded version of the McCormick Super W-6 but it was never sold in the United States. How much are they wanting for the one you have found?

Worth ssving at least by my standards. I am in the midwest and hauled one home from Texas but it still awaits restoration. Wide front or narrow and where are you?

I owned a B450 back in the mid 70's. Mine was kind of hard to start. At the same time I used a SMD and the B450 would run circles around the SMD. I pulled 3-16's with both tractors but the B450 would pull them much easier. It had a factory 3pt hitch and a differ. lock. The only thing, it only had a one way hyd. Could not use a two way cyl. so you could not pull the wheels up off the ground on a disc. the transmission had higher gears. Third was like fourth on the SMD and fourth was around 8-9 mph. Don't know what part of the country it came form, bought it from a dealer in southern Illinois. It looked very simmiler to my M, sheet metal, wheels, grill. Today, I really hate I ever sold it. I did see one for sale at a CIH dealer in clay county IL fifteen years ago, they were wanting 4,500.00 for it and it did run good and one in a salvege yard in Sikeston MO. about ten years back.

Harold. Did't some of the B450 come down out of Canada? There was a IH dealer in Golconda IL. back in the 1950's -60's and 70's that sold some new B414's and B275's but told me he never sold a new B450, had one used one once. Why did the carrie the 414 and 275 but not the 450? Din't they come frome the same place, factory in Britan?

The Farmall B-450 was only imported to the US by IHC to be sold in the Memphis District and part of Texas. I understand a few International B- 450's were imported to Canada by IHC but were not real popular because of cold starting problems in the cold Canadian temperatures. Any B-450, Farmall or International, sold in Illinois was not sold new there. The International B-275 and B-414 were imported and sold all over the USA.

That looks just like the Farmall B-450's here in the US. His next video on the road is a 4 wheel drive verson of the McCormick International B-450. The McCormick Super W-6 was never offered with 4 wheel drive. I think the McCormick B-450 also had a three point hitch where none was ever available on the SW-6 also.

Wardner,

If you could find a McCormick International (not Farmall) B-450 parts book, you might get some ideas for one of your four wheel drive projects.

Harold,

I doubt if you read it but that "Delete" post was a photo from Google images. It was a copywrited picture of a B-450 with a Roadless MFWD conversion. TractorData owned it and pasted a big "no-no" msg over it. I deleted it because I didn't want this site to get into trouble.

Anyway, I thought others would like to see it. When I went looking for it, I was hoping to see some evidence of how Roadless sent power to the front end. Unfortunately, I still don't know.

It's a nice picture. Try this link. Hope it works.

Here's another International Roadless

Wardner,

The only thing I can tell from those pictures is that the drive shaft comes from somewhere on the left side. Maby you can find a parts book.

Harold H

Wardner,

Go to >www.roadless.co.uk/MANUALS.htm<
and maby they can supply a manual. They apparantly bought all of the Roadless rights and materials.
