Update on the Antifreeze in oil on my A

Today tackhammertime, farmallhfan, and tractordude worked on the A and found that the head gasket was bad. The water and oil was mixing together on the bottom side of the gasket between oil returns and water jackets. It is back together and running with no water in the oil. I think the total cost was $65.00 plus lunch for the help. Thanks Guys for all your support and help.

Yup - like someone said, we'll help fix anything, even if it's not broke.

That's good news, they're fun tractors.

Good deal and glad to hear it. Just remember to retorque it and run the valves again after you've had the old girl warmed up good. It could easily be that the last guy didn't and that's why you had the problem.

Have fun and be safe with it.

Glad to hear it was the head gasket. I have to say, that 60% of the antifreeze-in-the-oil problems I have repaird have been the head gasket. The other 40% are bad "O" rings or cracked head/block.

this is a relatively easy one.

good for you.

Thats the same thing we were thinking about it not being retorqued. That motor has been reworked not to long ago I think. We got it real good and warm then pulled the valve cover and rack retorqued, set the vales at .14 closed it back up and run it around for awhile.
