Hi guys. I have a line on a 450 LP with tricycle front. I heard these were pretty rare. Is that true. What would one, fully restored, be worth? Thanks, Dan

Depends where you are located. They are not rare in the deep South. They are very rare in the North East.

"Fully restored" doesn't mean a thing. It is an ambiguous concept and everybody has their own set of standards. A nice running tractor where everything works and complemented with an above average paint job might bring $4000-$6000. Those figures are also dependent on location.

I understand what you're saying about the ambiguity of "fully restored". I guess I need to quit using that phrase because I actually agree with you. Just trying to get an idea of the value of it so I can tell if I'm getting a good buy. I'm in central Texas and that thing is sitting in a barnyard by the highway and I just drool everytime I drive by it. The guy wants $2500 for it, but, I think it could be had for less. It's a runner, but, that's all I know about it right now.
Thanks for the reply. You've helped me a lot. Dan

B.Dan, There is a lot of difference in Asking and Gettin price! My questions to you are is it already sorta dolled up or is it in "work clothes" how is the rear rubber ...%age or tread left! Tin work... ruff, OK, straight, really straight/like new. Do the hydrolices work? Obivious welds on Housings or Block? These are questions that could affect that $2500 asking price and be used to lower it to a more reasonable price.
Hollar at me if you like and I will visit with you about it and give you my thoughts If you like ,,,,(512) 577-3837. I am here in Central Texas too, S. of Lampasas 27 miles. Where are you located?
Hope this helps.

John A.

I bought a 450LP sight unseen at an auction in Craig, Colorado. Couldn't attend the auction, so I called the auctioneer and left a bid as to how much I would go. He called me the next day and said that I own it. Spent a whole day going to get it. It does need work, has a lot of leaks, TA slipping, jerry-rigged seat, rewiring and tires. Sheet metal is in almost perfect condition, especially since it did have a loader on it. Bought it mainly because I grew up with one on the parents' farm.

I'm in Hillsboro, John. I would really appreciate your advise on this and may be calling you. I'm partial to gold tractors myself, but love them all. There's just something about the way this thing looks that has me hooked. It definitely has it's work clothes on as it appears from the highway. I'm going to stop in and get a much closer look. Thanks, Dan

B. Dan, Is this the 450 that is north of hillsboro on the west side of the highway to itasca?

That thing has been there for years. Be careful when going to look! I stopped by there about a year or so back to knock on the door and next thing I know an SUV pulls up off the highway and an old man jumps out threatening to call the sheriff and that I was planning to rob the place, etc. Didn't seem to matter to him that I was in full uniform and wearing ID's and such. I never made it over to where the tractor was.

Yea, that's it. Friend of mine knows the owner and called him. Said he is a really nice guy and would consider selling it. Owner said he goes out there about once a month and while he's there he starts it up. Don't know anything else about it. I'm going to contact the owner and either bring it home or forget it forever. I'l let y'all know how it turns out. Dan

Get it if you can! It doesn't look like they're going to do anything with it and I hate to see it go to waste. It looks to be overall in decent condition. Try to hear it run before you commit on the price if you can. I don't know if I would go 2500 but maybe 2000 even.

Do you ever go to the tractor show/pull in Hillsboro?

I agree about the tractor. It's been sitting there for years and I can't stand it any longer. $2000 is what I'm thinking also, as long as the condition is a good as I think. Like you, I hate to see a tractor like that just sitting there, rusting away. I got the owner's name and # today and I will be calling him tomorrow.

Yes, I do go to the Hillsboro pull. I just became a member of the Heart of Texas Tractor club and will be trying to make most of the pulls in the area. Right now I have a Minneapolis Moline G6 that I pull. I want to get smaller, because I really don't have many pullers in my weight class, 11,000#plus. Do you ever attend the pulls?
