Hello
I am new to the forum and I am looking for some info. I recently picked up a Farmall SM D fairly cheap and was wondering if it would be worthwhile to spend some money on it to get it running again. Engine is stuck. Serial number photo is enclosed.
Thanks

There always worth. If your asking how it will impact your checkbook, you never really get out what you put in other than ultra rare models. But there fun and are worth preserving for there historical value.

It will cost you dearly, IF you find the parts at all. Better to go with a gasser. Then sadly when done it's not worth that much more than a gasse, unless it is SMTAD

the super md can be veryyy exspensive to restore when compared to a gas super m. i have a stage II (live hydro) as yours is too. and i currently have over 4 grand invested. some of the major items were injector pump that was 1250 and injectors was 300. starter and generator was 300. those were just some of the cost. luckly the bottom end of the engine is good in mine. but if you have to replace the main berings that 500 and rod are 150-200. if you need a piston and sleeve set they run over 1000. Heck even the head gasket is 100 plus dollars. The first thing that i would do is pull the head and have it checked for cracks, they are know for this if not properly cooled dowm before shut down. Now i dont want to scare you! i love my Super MD. they are pretty rare espically the stage II. When i bring mune to pulls and shows people always ask me about. it is a real conversation starter. And for working tractors there great good power and very easy on fuel. again i dont want to scare you geting into it just letting you know what your up against. good luck and post back on how it goes
