Yes the M has an after market 3pt running off the belly pump and a big round bale is a load for it.

400s have a Fast hitch 2 point system, or a regular M style drawbar. All 3points would be aftermarket. The 400 is at about 1200psi, an M is no more than 800 on a good day. The 400 is live Hydraulics, the M is clutch must be out hydraulics. JimN

In the past I used a SM with live hydraulic and a 3 point hitch with 2 cylinders to move some bales. PSI was set to max out near 1000 PSI. Worked okay but light on the front. Even with front wheel weights and frame weights upgrades could be a challengage unless backing even with the weights. This year I moved some with a 400D and late type 2 point with adapters to the 3 point bale carrier. I wondered if the 2 point with one cylinder would lift the bales. It did okay and that diesel engine maybe combined with a little longer wheel base kept the front on the ground just slightly better than the SM did without weights on the 400 front. Depending on bale size a 400 gas may get light on the front. If your already moving them on the back of a M without weights the 400 should do better if the hydraulic system is putting out what it should.
