I have bought a ud9 motor with about 200 hours on it for my wd9 that has a cracked block and is missing peices but the ud9 is going to need a rear main seal it started leaking after we started it up this is also my first ih gas start diesel i plan on switching the injector pump because they are different the question i have is how do i find the year of the Ud the serial # is udcb 2152 I think

The rear seal should be a felt. If it still is then is just needs new felt or a piece inserted. Often a gap has opened up between the ends, sometimes up to a 1/4 inch, and it is surprising it holds any oil at all. As I recall on a 9, the crank will have a groove in it if it is meant for felt type seal.

Thanks for the reply can I still get the felt for the seal and I was told when I change the pump i will have to change the injectors to because the line are different and the fitting on the injectors are different I might have left a number off the serial # think it is udcb 21252
