farmall value

I have a 1956 farmall 400 that run when it was parked a few years ago. In the mean time, the carb and the shifter was removed (stolen). The engine is not stuck, the sheetmetal is pretty good, and the tires are all still hard, but not very good. I need to sell it. What is a reasonable price to ask for it in this condition? Thank you.

I'm not going to venture out on a price, but a tractor that starts & runs is worth a lot more than one that doesn't. If you need money, suggest finding a carb & shifter to make it start & drive, else it's value will only based on "parts".

Sorry to say this but $500 is about tops if you can even get that much. To replace the carb will cost $200 plus and the shifter who knows so it if basically a scrap iron machine or parts. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying you should scrap it

Ive been looking for one like that. Was the shifter covered,or did it rain in the transmission this whole time?,and is it still holding anti freeze?

Non-runners are a tough sell. Non-runners that arent complete are an even tougher sell. You have to find the right buyer. Your 2 better bets are to put it on e-bay describing it just like you did to us or to part it out yourself. I"ve bought a fair amount of parts tractors over the years, but still am sometimes amazed at what they can bring on fee-bay.

For reference, I just bought a 400 that purrs like a kitten, PS, Fh, straight tin. 80% tread tires, clean fuel system, zero leaks, but the lights don't work :) $1800.
