Farmall H Rewiring Questions, Part 2

I'm rewiring my Farmall H, trying to put it back together right. My light switch is a 4 position switch, but the tractor has the regulator that is used with the 3 position switch. I believe that the 4 position switch is used with the cut-off relay on top of the generator.

Question is this: Do I need to get the 3 position switch -or- can I use the 4 position switch that's used for the cut-off? If I can use the 4 position switch, do I wire it the same as the 3 position switch? (Using the same numbered posts?)

Thanks in advance,
Bill

Bob M or Jim or others more IHC familiar will have to help you with the specifics of what switch terminals are what etc

BUT YESSSSSSSS you can still use that switch to control lights, but DO NOT RUN ANY WIRES FROM IT DOWN TO THE GENNYS FLD POST as you do if its used for Low/High charge control as the Voltage Regulator now controls that. The only difference is where the gennys FLD used to wire up to that switch, but using a VR it wires to the FLD terminal on the VR instead.

BAT on VR to load side of ammeter
ARM/GEN on VR to gennys ARM post
FLD on VR to gennys FLD post

NOOOOOOOOOOO wires from genny to LHBD switch, just use it as a light switch

Skip the wire between the generator field and the switch. There shouldn't be anything on the back of the switch to hook it to anyway. The only wire you should need coming back is between the one from the BAT terminal on your regulator to the load side of the ammeter. From there, you should just need a jumper down to the switch to power your lights.
