Why does it stall?

I'd appreciate some advice. I just picked up a Farmall H that ran fine when I tried it out. I test drove it about a mile and it was fine. I bought it and trailered it about 250 miles back to my house. After I got it off the trailer, it still starts fine, but when I put it in gear and take off, the engine bogs down and dies after about a foot and a half. What could have happened during the hauling period to cause this? What should I check? Any advice will be greatly appreciated because this is a head-scratcher to me. P.S. I checked three times, and the gas is on.

check fuel flow, rust and trash may have goten into the carb or sediment bowl during the movement of trailering.

I agree with Andrew - likely the long trailer ride dislodged some crud in the carburetor and it's now partially plugging one of the fuel metering orifices.

Or if it's a steep climb on/off your trailer water and junk in lying at the bottom of the float bowl got "sloshed" into a fuel orifice.

Whatever the cause suggest dropping the carb bowl. It can be done without removing the carburetor.

Once the bowl is off thoroughly clean the interior and blow out all the passages. Also blow out the passages in the throttle body casting, and remove/clean the fuel inlet screen (it's located behind the fuel line inlet nut).

Reassemble using a new gasket and see if it solves the problem.

Thanks, guys. I'll try all of this tonight and see if it takes care of the problem. I'll post again tomorrow and let you know. Thanks again for the help.

I want to thank you for the great advice. I took the bowl off last night, cleaned everything out (the screen was so plugged I'm surprised anything got through it at all), reassembled everything, and it now runs fine! I never would have guessed that hauling it on a trailer could loosen up so much crud in the fuel system. I learn something every day.....
Thanks again for the great help! Take care. Jeff

That screen was probably already partially clogged up. The shaking it recieved while being hauled just finished the job.
