240 questions

New to me 240. Tin in excellent shape. Where is the hyd fill point? It has 24" turf tires on it. I'll throw on some chains on it to plow, but will it have the clearance underneath when one side is in the furrow? It looks real low to me. Also, the fast hitch has, shall i say, been re-worked. I have a 300 row crop. Will the fast hitch arm that has the hitch latches on it swap to the 240? The 300 is set up nice and tight. Also, will the wheel weights from a Super A bolt up on these rims? Thanks for any help. PS..books ar on the way. Mike

The fast hitch components will not work (probably) the 240 series used the thinner prongs than a 300.
About one half inch in the vertical direction. Others have answers to the other questions. JimN

Hydraulic reservoir is built into the bell housing. Drain and fill are on the right. Super A rear weights will bolt on.

Our 1st tractor when we moved back to the Country was a 240, so consequently, all the 2points were cut to the smaller height.

When Dad later traded up to a 424, it had the larger, taller points. There was a pair of shims about 1/2 inch thick, as long as the entire pocket a point slides into to take up the slack. The rear, outer end of the shim was drilled and had a long roll pin in the hole to keep the shim from sliding too far int the pocket and being lost through vibration during use. Each point, therefore, had a short finger below the point, so that it would hold the shims into place from behind.

Same system should work if you have 2 fast hitch tractors, one large, one small. It would be a tough decision to let someone cut all of the points down, and having to use the shims on the larger tractor from that point forward.
