47 farmall lift all

I recently purchased a 1947 farmall. I installed a 3 point on it. It will raise, hold steady in the neutral position, and lower when released. When you put some weight on the hitch it will not raise at all. Is my pump bad? Can you buy a new one for it? Can these be rebuilt? Are kits still available to rebuild. Any Help, numbers, businesses, suggestions to overcome this problem will be greatly appreciated.

I bought a kit to rebuild the lift-all pump on a H, 2 years ago so yes they are available. I bought the kit from an IH dealer and the rebuild instructions/photos were a little diffferent from the lift-all pump that I had. There must be more than 1 pump design/version of the lift-all.
Have you checked the oil in the pump? Someone may have put very light oil in the pump. 30 weight oil is what is recomendended.
If you do a google search for Farmall H lift-all pump you can find some info.

Disconnect the pressure line from the pump and check the pressure should be around 700 to 800 LB. The oil should be 30 or 40 weight. You can add a pint of STP and if the pressure comes up a lot then the pump needs help.

What is the diameter of your cycl and just what are you trying lift maybe you just need a larger dia cycl. You didnt say if you are using a two-way cycl. Just because you put a three pt on doesent mean you can lift the world.

Not to dispute the 30 or 40 wt. oil, but dad had a couple of H's, early 40's that he used only 10 wt. non-detergent oil in the hydraulics and they would lift about anything. The one had a JD 45 loader on it and would lift anything as long as the back wheels would stay on the ground. So i am assuming the condition of the pump is probably more important than the oil wt. Thanks

I have 2 cylinders that are 3 inches in diameter and about 12 inches long. They are single action. I weigh about 270 and I can stand on the back of the hitch, pull the lever and it will not go up. My wife weighs about 150 and she can stand on it and it will lift her just fine. Your thoughts gene?
