can't kill f-4 magneto

I've got a F-4 mag on myO14 that I'am unable to kill.I get real good srark in all postions of the retard/advance lever.It's my understanding when the lever is fully retarded the mag should be dead .I took the lever housung off and can see the little pin I assume grounds the points.I took my vom meter to check continuity between the body of the mag and the points.I tried all different combinations to put the probes between.I get continuity everywhere no breaks.What next? There is information on the points area on Page 9 and some on page 23. Beyond that, you'll have to visually determine why contact isn't being made in the fully-retarded position.

You WILL get a low-resistance reading at all positions 'cause the coil's primary winding is an almost dead short to ground, very low Ohms.

Simply put, when the the points are closed or the advance lever is in the "kill" position, there is even less resistance to ground, ZERO Ohms, which places a short across the points to ground, "killing" the spark.
 
There should be a small tab on the points connection that the pin will contact to kill the spark. Is yours missing or bent so it doesn't contact?
 
Chuck,theres a tab inside your mag that needs to be twisted upwards so it can ground itself out.I have seen them broke off also
