Starting a B414 Diesel

Hi! I am trying to get my late uncle's B414 diesel tractor started and need to know if the fuel control needs to be pushed in or pulled out to start. Thanks!

FWIW, on my similar, but later model 424, the cable/knob is in/run, out/stop.

Don't know for SURE if your's would be the same.

Matter of fact, the only tractors I've ever encountered that were out/run were the Allises.

The knob just stuck out waiting to be whacked by your knee and broken off. Of course, that wasn't the only stupid thing to be designed by the Chalmers outfit!

Hi Bill, it was pull out to STOP. Put throttle about 1/4 open, apply glow plugs until glow plug indicator glows and then push starter lever.
