SH Hydraulics

How do the hydraulics function on a Stage 2 SH? I'm used to the Touch Control system with dual acting cylinders. The lever on the SH only has one position which I assume puts pressure to the two lines out the back. What type of equipment can this operate? Are implements gravity return. Please explain.

It is an open center system with pump flow at all times. It can be single acting if there is one single acting valve and lever with one cylinder hose connected, and one single return hose to reservoir. It can be double acting if there is a double acting valve, with two hoses connected to hoses/couplers/double acting cylinder, and a single return hose to reservoir from valve.

Mine is a show tractor. I won't use the hydraulics. I am just curious. So you are saying it has to be used with an additional control valve?

Many came with a single acting valve to raise/lower an implement or attachment. It was mounted on the system by the front of the fuel tank, and had a single lever. Accessory valves (often called Christmas Trees (put those words into the search for box)) allowed two way action there were then two rods controlling the valves. One was locked on, and the other raised and lowered 2Way cylinders. JimN
