ih 350 governor

Just like a bad penny -I'm back!
Got a question on the governor on my 350--I have to advance the throttle abut 1/4 before the rpms come up -then sometimes I have to go 2/3 before it gets to 1000-if I open it all the way sometimes it gets to 1450sometimes 1100.When I back it down it goes to high idle but if I go from full to idle very quickly it will idle clear down. Took the side plate off-seems to be quite a bit of slop in the flyweight pins and they feel a bit sticky when operated by hand .
I didnt rebuild this when I O.H"d the engine. Can I get a kit or shud I drill the weights and put new spring pins in and a new spring (if I can find one} She runs great but dont like the sloppy responce on the throttle. I already made new pins and reamed the holes oversize a bit in the linkage so no slop or binding there. T I A. John

If your linkage moves the governor lever full travel, the issue is inside the unit. (most do not start increasing the engine speed until 1/4 throttle or more, but the other issues are important to fix. Worn pins and holes can be cleaned up, but new or good used might be better. JimN
