in the final stages of the repaint on the 49 m. started filling the engine with oil. got a pinhole leak on the bottom of the oil pan, near the drain plug. gotta drop the pan, clean it, weld up the hole then re-paint the oil pan.. dang dang dang dang!!!!!! i hate when that happens.

we poured oil in a freshly rebuilt motor on a restored tractor and the oil started pouring out the bottom. we clean it up, welded it up and repainted.

When we started it, more oil was coming out along the top. I pulled the pan and found another pin hole. I put a little expoxy on it and put the pan back in. Oil pan is now secure!!

I put JB weld in the bottom of my SH oil bath air cleaner about 7 years ago, it doesn't leak -- don't know if the hot engine oil makes any difference or not. Of course I don't have a body shop reputation to uphold either.

Very useful thread for me. Discovered pinhole in final drive pan of 140 last week. Going to try JB Weld as I don't do real welding. Anyone think I should make it a little bigger--or just dab some on both sides? It really is a pinhole. Sorry for the mini-hijack--didn't think it was worth a thread...

I learned something today!

I didn't realize boogers was profanity; I thought it was a noun characterizing lumps in a paint job from poor mixing or crap floating/bugs flying in the air and sticking to the wet paint..... of course, I guess that could invoke profanity anyway. :lol:
