Oil gallery on H farmall (350 engine)

In the process of getting a "big" crank to clear in a IH 350 block, I ground into the oil gallery runners that feed the mains. I actually ended up take them out to make the crank clear. Has anyone ever used copper or steel lines and ran external lube lines to the mains on a 350 IH block? Thanks for any advice.

I haven"t done this personally, but if you plug the inside where you cut through, there are some external ports with pipe plugs that could be tied together. Must not be much left of camshaft either? How much stroke are you putting in it?

Take some copper tube that fits inside the gallery, you make 4 pieces to cover up the holes you make by grinding. You can braze em in, or JB weld em in, anything you can do to seal it up. I use steel tube and braze them in, and pressure test. Cut notches, and fill em back in with the tube and seal it up. Need help, call me. 574-893-7437 ChadS The Tractor Shop.

Thanks Chad. I actual bought a limited slip from you 2 years ago. Now doing an engine upgrade. Limited slip works great by the way!!

Thank You!! Come Again! LOL

Try to keep between .060 - .100 for clearence for all moving parts. I have one tight place in my engine, at .045,,,,,,,,, I since recut the rod bolt and made it right. 4X6 are sweet engines, but JMHO,,, the rods could be a bit longer. If I was you,,,, throw on a low compression head for now,,,,,, let it break in, you will have better luck in the long run. Once you got about 10-15 hours on it, and the carb and IGN is close and the engine is running decent, then look for your higher compression heads,,, but man,,,,,,,,, you should not need much more than a bone stock 300-350 gasser head and still be way up in cyl pressure!!

Ive got about 8 hours on mine now. Its sounding great, and was thinking about turning up the wick to full power, but its already at 115+ at just over rated rpm!! Might just leave it alone till next year. ChadS
