Jumping JohnT

Hi John,

In your post on converting or not, you mentioned twice that people might get confused by polarity when jumping a conversion.

I KNOW what you meant and I know you know what you meant but I just want to make it clear to those that might not know.

When jumping any vehicle to any vehicle:
ALWAYS CONNECT POSITIVE POST TO POSITIVE POST
AND NEGATIVE POST TO NEGATIVE POST
REGARDLESS OF WHICH POST IS GROUNDED.

The foundation of one piece of the pie is to jump by connecting away from the battery to avoid hydrogen based explosions. It is common tactics to warn away from post connections. As such being correct carries a lot of importance. JimN

Polarity aside, there's also issues with trying to jump a six volt battery with a twelve which, I think, is the flip side of JohnT's argument.

EXCELLENT Dell, and if youre jumping say a Pos grounded tractor with your Neg grounded Ford pick em up DONT LET THE TRUCK N TRACTOR COME IN PHYSICAL CONTACT

PS I still think a 6 to 12 looks "weird" lol to me a sparky at least
