Farmall 300 or M

I have been looking for a good M and talked to a guy that has a 300 for sale. I have not looked at it yet because of the distance. I don't know much about the 300 so I will ask the experts. I know it has PS, 2 way live hydralics and not sure about live PTO. TA is weak. My main concern is the hydralics, engine and any other problems this tractor may be noted for. Power steering unit leaks, can this be fixed? I have an H so figure a M would be similiar to work on as I am not a top notch mechanic. Any input would be apprecited.

Depends if you need live pto, power steering and live hydraulics. No question the M is a much simplier tractor then the 300 to keep running.

On my 300, I had to replace the three hydraulic values, pump, pto clutch and TA. Not cheap to get parts and the knowledge to do the projects.

The old M with the belly pump, straight drawbar and straight pto never has a problem you can't fix.
