So the ticking noise mentioned previously is not in the tranny but in the bellypump. Where do I check that level? What oil is used?

And while we"re at it...Where do I check the engine oil level? Where do I add engine oil?

Thank you and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Check the engine oil with the 2 petcocks on the oil pan. The belly pump holds 6 quarts of oil, I think the manual calls for 30 wt engine oil, but most any hydraulic oil should work fine. The belly pump oil level is checked with a dipstick in the filler neck, most of these dipsticks were not put back in the filler, so you may need to find one. You should also get a manual, they are very handy. Merry Christmas!!

The engine oil fill is on the right side of the engine's front cover, right in front of the distributor/magneto. It's a large cap with wings that spins off.

You can fill the belly pump until you can see the oil in the filler neck if you don't have a dipstick. It won't hurt anything being that full.

HOWEVER, if you're hearing a tick, the damage is done. Adding oil now is a waste of perfectly good oil. It might quiet the tick, but the hydraulics won't work.
