Hydraulic Return leaking

After getting roughly 8" of snow these past few days, it was time to call on the 'ole Super M to plow the drive way. This is a Stage one super M converted live hydraulics with a 2000 loader attached to it. I notice that everytime you go to lower the loader the breather cap on the line returning hyrdaulic fluid to the reservoir leaks REALLY bad. I noticed that the output from the hyrdaulic contols is a 3/4" pipe. Yet the input to the reservoir is 1/2". I decided to "T off" the return line so I have two 1/2" ports the fluid can flow back to the reservior to, Yet this did nothing to help the promblem. Any suggestions? It seems that I'm simply putting more fluid through the hoses then the return ports can handle. What can I do so when I lower the bucket ALL fluid will return back to the reservior?

It sounds like there is no place for the air to move in and out at. (vent) So it builds pressure in the tank not letting oil back in.

There is a breather on the reservoir fill, and there is a breather on the hydraulic line going back into the reservoir. Im thinking that the reducing couplings are forcing the fluid up and out the breather caps

No, I checked and no frozen water. I even took the reservoir off this past spring to make sure their were no blockages inside it. The old hydrualic pump was pulled out and no sign of any blockages. Thanks for the suggestion.

Simple. Put a close nipple and T in the drain plug in the resivoir. The return in one, and the drain plug in the other. If it is a seperate tank or the old Liftall pump used as a resivoir it will make it work well. JimN
