Hi all, cleared some of the snow out of the driveway today with my 1943 Farmall H and #30 loader. First time I have cleared snow with the loader. Here are a few pics.

Looks like fun. Never had that much snow around here in all my born days. In fact it is 70 degrees out there right now. Been out in short sleeve shirt, in fact my wife thought it would be a great time for me to wash her car. Was 45 degrees here Monday and is suppose to get back down to the low 40's Sunday. They say if you do not like the weather in Mississipi just stay here a week and during that time you will get some weather that you like. Harley

Hey Andy. Looks like you had a good time. Looks like I'll be moving snow with my '43 H in the near future. Forcast calls for a blizzard here in SD this weekend. I only wish it was a little warmer to run. I don't like -15 air temps.

Andy I like that setup. Looks like you can move the snow back a ways and dump it. Too many loader rigs look like they leave yah a little short on reach.
My snowblower is my favorite power tool.

Good job. Got any close up pics of the W-I-D-E bucket? Without the snow in it? I might want to modify my little skinny bucket.

Nice looking Tractor. I have a 1952 "H" my Grandfather bought new. It has an old Sears Cable over hydraulic loader that I"ve adapted a 7 foot angle plow we made where I used to work. Works great. I notice you don"t have chains or weights on yours. I have chains and 3 sets of wheel weights as well as loaded tires. Makes a huge difference!

Hi Rusty, Heres a pic of the snow bucket before the snow got here. It can hold a lot of snow. I don't know how wide it is, but I could measure it if you like. It is an IH bucket. What type of bucket do you have on your H? I'm still needing new seals for the loader cylinders on mine.

Thanks, yes I need to dig in the storage shed and find the tire chains. We are supposed to get a lot more snow soon, so I'll need them.

Andy

Thanks, Yes, I enjoyed moving snow with the H. We will be getting more snow soon, so I'll have a lot more snow to clear soon. Do you have a loader on your H?

Andy

In Illinois and Missouri they say if you don't like the weather stick around 24 hours, it'll change.

Thank you. That gives me some ideas. The center portion of your bucket is the original that came with that loader, except there is also side plates and a dirt plate that slips on over the forks. I remove the bucket and attach a blade for pushing snow.

Andy, can you tell me a little about those spoked rear wheels. I think there the best, on those tall rear tires. I thought I read somewhere some guys were converting the old spoked steel wheels to accept a tired rim. Did those come stock at some point?
Tim

I had always thought that the spoked wheels were either from a Case tractor, or were made from a set of steel wheels so they could have rubber tires mounted.

But I dont think that they ever came from the factory with a spoked wheel like that on rubber, but I could be wrong.

The rear wheels are cut-offs. They were originally steel wheels, but the farmer wanted rubber, so they cut off the spokes part way and welded on a rim. I like them a lot.

You guys must have slow weather, here in MI just wait 5 minutes and it will change for you.
We quit plowing snow with an H just to slow. I mounted a blade off of a dodge pickup and have the hydraulic angle too.

No, IH did not make the spoke wheels. They are cut-offs. My H was originally shipped on rear steel wheels, the farmer wanted rubber so he would cut the spokes to the right size and weld on a rim. The IH rubber tires were mounted on a large cast center and wheel weights could be added. I love them. My H has a old pair of 12-38 Firestone tires.

Yes, my H has a loader. I'm not sure which brand though. It resembles a westendorf and is really easy to take off. Basically an early quick tach. I also have a hyd pump mounted on the distrib, so I have live hydraulics. It's nice to be able to step the clutch in and still lift the bucket. Wish I had power steering, but one can't have everything.
