Farmall MD Not throtteling up.

I asking this for a friend ask told to me.
He has a MD starts on gas and swithes to diesel but wont throttle up on diesel. Any help would be great. Thanks Ray

Three issues stick out as possible. The linkages to the injection pump may be off, mis adjusted, or stuck.
The fuel being delivered is restricted and it can only inject what it can get. Filters, tank pickup plugged, or other, including the fuel supply pump in the injection housing. What is the delivery pressure on the gauge?
The rack in the pump could be stuck. (quite possible if it has been not running for a year or more) the rack and plunger system if stuck from varnish, will not allow the plunger to move. this makes it incapable of responding to throttle (speed control) position, or the governor. JimN

Agreed with Jim. In concept on a diesel you "punch the rack" instead of opening up the throttle. A diesel runs a wide-open intake tract hence the lower pumping losses and greater efficiency than a gasoline engine.
