Tractor been setting for 10 months

Bought a M farmall the other day the guy said it has been setting for 10 months. but ran before he parked it . The month is free I can turn it with a pipe wrench . I have took the spark plugs out and sprayed pb blaster and let it set. I have cleaned the gas tank and thought about rebuilding the carbutor and get a battery and try that . any other suggestions. This is a war time tractor . thanks for the help

If this tractor has only been setting for 10 months change the engine &filter.put in fresh gasoline, a good battery it should start and run. It sounds like you are saying it is not stuck so it should be ok. Armand

Put in fresh fuel and make sure the magneto/distributor points are clean. It would also be a good idea to change the engine oil and filter as Armand mentioned below. If you don't rebuild the carb, open the petcock or remove the drain plug on the carburetor bowl and make sure there is fuel getting into the carb bowl. Good luck and post here when you get it running or if you have more questions.

Just brought home a 53 SM the other day that the owner told me had sat for 3 years. Checked oil and water. Drained what was left of the stinky fuel. Put fresh fuel in and cranked her up.

My self I would have put ATF in the cylinder instead of PB, cost less and does more as far as freeing things up and also as a pre lube for the cylinders. But other then that fresh gas and an oil change and maybe clean the points I would then give it a go

Yeah, I would have put fresh fuel in and started it too. Just fired up an F30 a couple weeks ago, hosed the cylinders and valve stems down with PB Blaster, changed the oil and made sure it was pumping and fired it up. The man I bought it from said it was running good when he parked it in his barn in 1975. The fuel part was easy, it is on lp and still had fuel in the tank.

Drain the tank and carb, change the oil and filter, check hydraulic oil (if milky change oil and filter), sandpaper or file points, wire brush plugs, kick the tires and light the fires...

GAS ON IT
