QT: Allen in NE

What kind of weather you did you have today. Around Hemingford we couldn't see much more than 100 yards all day. Snow butt deep to a short person. At 5:30 pm we still have winds at about 40 mph or so. Had some as high as 68 mph with about 8" snow. The winds tomorrow are to be around a calm 30 to 35 mph. Later Dan

Hi Dan,

I live 2 or 3 miles inside the timberline and the farm is out on the table. Tried all day to get out there, drifts and "0" visibility; just couldn't make it.

Brought the cattle into the lot a week ago and fed 'em up real good on Tuesday evening. Just hope I've got some livestock left. :>(

Since I post to you the wind as dropped to almost nothing. I am the Util Supt. in Hemingford and fortunately we had a couple of power blinks but we still have power. The rural areas of PREMA are told to expect tommorow afternoon before much comes back on. NW Rural are getting some back on. Are you without power? I understand your concern with the cattle with a storm like this. Been there done that for several years. Lots of moisture though. Can't say I would care to have any corn right now. I would guess that a lot of it is on the ground now. Talked to a guy at Corn OK. just now and he asked about our weather here. Down there they had the 40 to 50 mph winds and no snow and he thought that 75 percent of the corn is flat to the ground. Normally they are done 3 weeks ago. Going to be a awhile before they get to the fields around here. Dan

In north central No. Dak. (Minot) they are saying we have about seven inches with more to come tonight. Was real windy but I think that has let up some. Dear season starts tomorrow at noon so some wanted this snow and some hunters didn't.

What part of Nebraska are you guys located. I have a son moving to Scottsboro in January. He is an Orthopedic Surgeon and says the area around there seems sot of barren but pretty. Henry

Oh Darn. I posted in one of the other 3 copies of this post. In Scottsbluff we had the wind but only a dusting of snow. Still lots of corn here to harvest. Mine won't be out for another couple of weeks. Allen I hope yours cows did OK.
