F-14 oil pan gasket installation

Finishing my restoration on F-14 and am getting ready to put the oil pan back on. I bought some original gaskets from Tom Underwood. The 2 side gaskets fit perfectly but the 2 end gaskets that fit on the curved part of the oil pan seem to be about a 1/4 inch to long. Am I supposed to trim these and then put some silicone where they meet the 2 side gaskets. Any suggestions appreciated. I will post pictures as soon as I am done in a couple of weeks. Nope, do not trim the end pieces they are intentionally oversized so that when the oil pan is installed the gasket will be pinched or crushed as bolts pull the pan upward. So center the end pieces and than tighten the pan evenly, also it helps to use spots of silicone to hold the strips in place when you install the pan.
