Light switch on 656

Hello,
I think the light switch on my 656 is going bad. Been mowing some at night and the lighs begin to flicker and eventually go out. I turn off the switch, then turn it back on and they are fine. Are the switches still available from IH? Anything else sound like a possible cause?

check your fuse when they go out. It might be red hot, with melted solder, and when it cools the lights will work again. Even with a new switch ours did that until i cleaned up the grounds, and broke down and rewired the tractor.

p.s. i'm for relays and redundant ground wires on tractor lights. requires some custom wiring

Having too many lights on the switch will cause it to burn out. Three is about all these switches can handle comfortably, but a 656 will generally have at least 5 lights, more if you added additional lights to the rear of the tractor for mowing.
