some of you remember my post from a month aga about a "36 f-20 i was given. (pics in gallery under bdunegan). well finally got it home and washed three years of barn dirt off it, and started checking everything for initial start-up. checked fuel lines, oil lines, oil troughs, and spark. (learned all from this site). got fuel, got spark, here goes. cranked (the safe way)and got a pop. choked , cranked again, and fired right off. no smoke or anything. ran great. gasket leaks on fuel bowl, so could only run till it ran out of gas in carb, but ran fine. I am tickled! with the exception of needing tires, and radiator fixed, this thing is in great shape! all tin good, no rust, and still red. have learned tons from this site to get me started, and lovin every minute. have a complete set of manuals on the way. has champion plugs in it now, but will change to autolite 3077s soon. can someone tell me what size spark plug socket these need? my 7/8s is not big enough, so will try something bigger. THANKS FOR A GREAT SITE!!!

Glad to hear it runs good. I'm picking up a F-20 pretty soon too. If it starts good and runs good, just leave the Champion plugs in, I like them better than Autolites.

I LOVE hearing about people getting old tractors back online! THANK YOU for saving this one!! Fantastic! Yeeeeee Haaaaah!

Check to make sure the oil lines are clear. Especially the oil "Distribtor" to the splash through the provide oil to the rods. If one outlets is plugged, you can burn out a rod -- ves, based on experience!

I don't know, I've got new Champions in our tractors and they have worked very well for me. I was told on this forum that Autolite 3116 for my H would be "better" than my Champions, so I went ahead and bought a set of Autolites. Put them in the tractor, they worked OK until 2 months, 2 plugs fouled. Bought a new set of D18Y Champions and it runs very well. Many of the people on here like Autolites better, but me and my Dad like Champions a lot better.

Hope to see you at Rollag on Sunday.

Andy.
