I recently purchased an IH 2444 and had a couple of questions.

1. How do I adjust the brakes? The left works a very little and the right doesn't work at all. I think I see the adj mechanism under the tractor but not sure?

2. What color was this rig supposed to be? Some dope painted this thing flat yellow. They didn't even bother to tape the stickers, just shot the whole thing.

3. Where can I get replacement parts? It's missing some small tin, and as mentioned above I need stickers.

4. Were there any MAJOR issues with this tractor I should know to look for?

Thanks Bob

That's the industrial version of the International 444 Utility. I believe there's an I&T Service Manual that covers both tractors. If you can find the older tan-covered version, it's better than the current version with the picture of the tractor on the front. Also check out binderbooks dot com for reprints.

I'm betting there's more wrong with the brakes than just an adjustment, though it should be as simple as adjusting the threaded linkage where it enters the brake drum on each side.

IH Industrial yellow would be the color, of course.

Most mechanical parts will be the same as the 444 Utility, and many of the wear and maintenance parts are still available from your local Case IH dealer. The tins are no longer produced, of course, and the tractor is fairly uncommon, so you may be in for a rough ride locating parts like this. What you'll have to do is start calling around to tractor salvage yards. Maybe you can find one that networks with other salvage yards and can find you the parts you need.

As previously stated the 2444 is the industrial 444. Same serial number sequence. Also many parts from a 424 will work on a 2444. the engine is different but much else is the same.

On the weak points, you have already hit the main one, weak brakes.
They can be made to work reasonable though, check back a couple of days on this forum and you will find a thread on this topic.

Also if your SN plate begins with B it is a british version with lucas electrical and if it begins with a U it is a US version with Delco electrical.

Why do you say that there is probably more wrong with the brakes than just an adjustment?

Is the adjustment the threaded rod on the brake linkage? If so, to tighten the brakes should I have more thread on top or less?

What I believe to be an adjustment block is all the way to the very bottom of the rod.

Hi Bobby see following:

The brakes can be fixed by disassembling, cleaning ramps & rollers and scuffing the glaze off the surface of the disks.

IH2444:

Another trick is to reseal the brake drums to the gearcase with some silicone to keep the water out on the right side and the oil out on the left side if you have aux hydraulic valves.

Yes they can be made to work pretty well by the above methods and probably replacing the discs, about $40 per side for the discs.

If you have remote valves the left side is probably oil soaked.
I helped my friend redo his 444 brakes last year, worked out well. I will be doing mine this year.
They are still not as good as wet brakes , but work pretty well.

If you search the archives under 414,434,444 you should find a detail description of method to clean the disk brakes.

Good Luck

Bobby, yes the brake adjustment is the threaded rod connected to the brake pedal arm. Go to caseih.com parts model 2444 search and look at controls page H-07 for brake assembly.

I just purchased the 2444 I have. I just checked the tractordata web page and there is very little about either the 2444 or the 3444. Sorry I can't help further.
