I got the 3 lug nuts and retainers off. So the tire should just pull off. Right? So if it won't (must be rusted on), do I need to build a tire puller? Any other ideas?

I sprayed rust remover front and rear where the tire touches the wheel, scraped off all of the rust that I could get at, pried on the tire and the tire still won't budge. Also smacked the tire from the rear with a rubber mallet. So now I'm having a beverage and planning tomorrow's stategy.

Dear dmkehoe,

First you need to make sure the tire has no air pressure in it, and then you need to "break the bead" (tire seated against rim) on both sides, then using tire irons, "pry" the tire away from the rim starting at one end, and working your way till one side of tire is off of the rim then pull out tube, find leak and patch it and put back together

I hope this helps

Are you talking about removing the rim + tire assembly off the wheel center??
Removing the tire from the rim is a different matter.

If your saying what I think your saying it a common problem. All you need to do is jack it up and then take a BFH and hit it a few times and it will fall off. I have seen the same problems on cars/trucks and tractors and it just takes a big hammer and a few good taps to pop them off

I know this sounds stupid, but you do have the wheel off the ground? If you do, it just pulls off the hub, I have taken a lot off and after getting it in the air, taking off the bolts and nuts, it just falls off. Now, getting the tire off the rim is a differant story.

If your problem is removing the rim from the wheel centre its a BFH. If its breaking the tyre from the rim lay it flat on the ground then very carefully drive a vehicle over JUST the tyre. Get your vehicle wheel as close to the rim as posible. If necessary lay a plank of wood on the tyre almost touching the rim. Best of luck MTF

forget the rubber mallet, they are telling you about a bfh but they forgot to tell you what that means(biggest hammer ya got)!

Start hitting it with a sledge hammer - it'll come off . Hit the rim anywhere you can get at it . Just don't hit the edge of the rim and bend it . ...Randy
