Uh oh. Maybe another problem. In trying to discern the compression stroke on number one with my finger in the plug hole and cranking the engine, I could feel only the slightest whif. Wouldn't even push my finger off there.Got the compression tester out and I'm not registering any compression on any cylinder. Checked the gauge on the SH and it went right up to 110.
So do these engines have to run a little to set the rings? Head was pro rebuild from Iowa.
What's the most logical cause of no compression? I can see all the pistons working and with all the plugs out you can feel the air move out in rotation 1342 about 6 inches from the plug hole.
 
You can squirt some engine oil in the cylinders to temporarily seal the rings. If you still have no compression the problem is with the head or head gasket. Verify also the valve clearance is around 20 thousandths (.020"). Also double check the head nut torque. The gasket can crush quite a bit over time. Losing some compression even with new rings and sleeves, the engine will still have enough to let the engine start and run.

A quick way to find out what end has the probems is to put a couple-three tablespoons of engine oil in each plug hole and bump starter a little to coat the cylinders. Then put your finger over the plug holes and see if the compression increases, if it does not increase, then you have a head problem. I don't mean any disrespect, but you did tighten all your head bolts and nuts down?

And the winner was........drumroll,
SteveAZ. Pulled the Genny and the valve cover. Every rocker had zero clearance. Icould see the valves off the seat when I went through the four cylinders. Compression is now too high for my gauge.resets after 130 or so.
Alfalfa to rake when it gets dark, bale tomorrow am.
