Farmall H Paint - IH50 or IH2150

We are ready to paint our Farmall H. The serial number is right in the middle of H"s built in 1949 - therefore right at the change from IH50 to the subsequent color. Bottom line is that I want the most red (least orange) paint. Therefore should I go with PPG 70019 (IH50) or PPG 71310 (IH2150)? I think I"ve read all posts about teh red paints but haven"t been able to get a clear idea on which to go with. Thanks!

Both are obviously red, but 2150 has a slightly orange cst to my eye. If you want redder, my vote is for 50.

I used the PPG 71310 paint on a Troy Bilt tiller and it was good match for their red, here's a tractor painted with Martin Senour's IH paint code. I would look at their paint chips. Hal

Don't forget that 20% of the male population is red/green color deficient. I'm one of them as my work requires a color blindness test. I still see red and green but not in the same shade as other folks. Something to consider when you get other's opinions of what red paint is the reddist.

Thanks for the info. What do you mean by the red being "bright"? I think I will go with red IH50 (PPG 70019). If anyone thinks I"m making a mistake, let me know - I"m going to go get the paint mixed tomorrow.

Here's the PPG's paint codes for farm tractors. Hal

PS: Here's the tiller I used PPG's 71310 paint code on.
