1939 farmall h alternator bracket

There are pictures on this sight of nice mounts.
The process includes turning the original mount upside down, then using a long bolt, and a piece of pipe to support the rear of the Alt. The top then clears the hood. Adjustment is quite tight, but definitely possible. A Nissan (Hitachi) Alternator from a mid 80s PU works well and is smaller. Good luck, JimN

Here are some alternators that fit under the hood that I saw on this site. You can see more info about the installation by going to the Parts & Pieces photo gallery on the left and put "Farmall H Alternator" in the search box.

Here's an Hitachi Alternator I installed on my Super H. Fits like a glove under the hood. Not the best picture tho.

That"s what I came up with on my own, but it seemed like such a rigging job I didn"t want to suggest it. Has about 1/16" clearance on each side of the alternator and has been working fine for about five years now.

On an M, you can just flip the generator bracket and not have to change the belt. May work on a H also.
