hey fellas my sediment bowl is leaking at the cut-off handle. leaks when i cut it off. how can i stop it? thanks, brad

brad, I have taken off the nut and wrapped teflon tape around stem and put the nut back.
work for a while. I have replace most of my stems with new ones. Rice Equipment in PA. has them they ship anywhere. oldiron29

I also have had alot of problems with them leaking. Ive bought new ones fron tsc and there even worse. Ive taken them apart and used valve lapping compound and lapped the neddle to the seat and it usually works

It will help to have the tank empty as you need to take the nut out so you can get some packing around the stem so when you tighten the nut it will seal. I have used teflon tape twisted it like a rope and wound it around the stem so the nut would seal it around the stem when tightened. When done tighten the nut just enough to stop leak and still be able to turn the stem. It would be a lot easier is the sediment bulb was off the tank.

Brad, Genes methed with the valve lapping compund I have never tryed but I will! On one of my Regulars I have changed the needle and it still leaks. It is very bad for the cork flot if you don't keep the gas out of the carb for the cork to dry. oldiron29
