Hi guys! First off Im not here to make trouble, I have a few serious questions to ask yall.
My uncle has a Farmall 706 gas, he has had it for about 30 years and hasnt done much with it besides feed with it when the diesels wont start. It looks real bad, it has set out side all of its life, the paint is very bad, no seat etc. The tires are fair. It is widefront, with T/A, and FastHitch/3pt. I dont know what he wants for it, if he even wants to sell it. But I thought I would ask him so that I could have a winter project. Since its gas I was wounder how hard it would be to find either a D-283 or a D-310 to slap in there. Do you think anyone would want the old gas engine that is in there? If I got this tractor I would use it for pulling a mower/conditioner and farm stock pulling. In your guys' opinon what would be a good starting price on a tractor in this condition? I figured after work tomorrow I would run over there and hit him up about it. Hope yall can help!!! Thanks!
John

We had a 706 gas for years and our opinion was the opposite of you guys. That was a cold blooded tractor, had to have the choke out part way until it got warmed completely. Seems it always had a miss, either plugs, points or something. Not knocking the 706 gas but once we got our first diesel there was never anything but on the farm again with the exception of the old Super H and 350.

I agree with the Tractor Vet. Leave it a Gaser. I have one and it always starts no mater how cold it is. I use is more than the biger diesel tractors. Gave $4500 for it with a good loader and only 2100 hours on it 10 years ago. I wouldn't even think of taking close to that for it today.

Myself i would leave it a gasser as it will always start and as long as ya feed it 93 octain gas it will give ya no problems and since it is in rough cond. i would say that 1500 to 2500 would be a vary fair offer. I have had many 706 gassers and have sold a bunch of them to good freinds and they run them everyday and one was a die in the wool John Deere guy but he saw the lite and went red and all but the old 720 diesel and his grandfathers old JD A that was bought new .
