Anyone watch Junkyard Wars tonight? The poor thing gets its wheels cut off, get put in a dumpster as a makeshift boat and is fitted with paddles. I wonder how that B ended up in the junk yard, it didn't seem to have much wrong with it other than it was painted a blue-grey color.

Sorry guys, I hadn't noticed this Junkyard Wars post until after I posted mine. I think they use a real junkyard, but it must be fenced off from the rest of the yard and it is definitely "seeded" with parts to make the job go much quicker. I guess I don't mind that, because I don't know how someone could be expected to build a working steam engine in 10 hours, and also build the rest of the machine to put it in. Some of the episodes aren't that great, but I guess they have to gear them to people that aren't that mechanically inclined, as well as those that are. Still, I think a team of old tractor guys could pretty well stomp anyone they came up against, just the like the farmers/ag equipment engineers from the U.S. did. Some of the ideas that the team come up with are just so ridiculous that you know there's no way they're going to work. I guess common sense isn't a universal talent, lol.

I also watched it. I think the B would have won if the team had used a decent, full-width paddle and a "boat" that didn't leak!!

I saw it too. I was disappointed that had to hack a B in such a way. However, I was hoping it would win the race because it WAS a Farmall. I watch Junk Yard Wars a lot and most of the stuf they need to accomplish their task is planted there for them. They have to find it and figure out how to use it, along with the real junk already there. I think the Farmall team would have won if they just had bigger paddles. I grew up in Mississippi along the river and the paddle wheeler episode caught my attention!

I was wishing I could have the fenders and hood off it for my A. I noticed the other team with the sternwheeler had no way to turn their boat, then I realized the folks with the Farmall sidewheeler didn't realize they DID have a way to turn, albeit rather crude. For being a family from Wisconsin, they sure didn't understand how to drive a tractor.

I watched the start of it, its a British show you know, my brother (whos a excellent mechanic) loves to watch it but he & I share the opinion its a little contrived about some of the items found available in the junkyard.

I saw that too! Thats got to be a staged Hollywood junkyard. A tractor in that good of shape ain't going to be in a place like that just by accident.

I like the idea of the show but I gave up on it during the episode when they "found" two working steam engines in the yard. The show that they had to invent a harvester was pathetic.

I saw that! As much as I like the show, I sure hated to see that B messed up like that. I thought for a minute they were going to have to pull it up from the bottom of the lake....
