M will idle all day long, but when I start mowing it will run for 20 minutes then dies and won't start, let it set for 15 minutes and it will start back up and run for 20 minutes. Carb is rebuilt, fuel is clean and getting to carb, new points, condenser, new dist cap, new spark plug wires and coil. My only thought is the governor, any suggestions appreciated.

My vote is for the gas cap vent being stopped up. Next time it does this, open the gas cap before it stops. I had this problem on a H after I painted it. Used my barlow to open the vent and it hasn;t stopped since.

Be careful of removing a gas cap with a suspected vent problem. When I opened the cap on my hot and running 300, I was amazed (and terrified) by the column of gas that came out. Next time I will shut it down and be near a source of water. Dick

The next time it does this pour cold water over the coil , if it starts right up you know it is the coil..next condenser..Good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario

Thanks a lot for all your info and have tried them all, but I think I was wrong about the fuel. The last time it stop, I jump off and unsrewed the drain plug off the carb and there was no gas for about 3 seconds and then it started flowing, so it's either vapor lock, if that's possible, or it's plugged up, which I can't find, have drain tank five times. Oh well, will figure it out, one of these days.
Thanks again.

Make sure that your gas cap vents properly - My "M" had this problem & it took a bit to figure it out....

Sounds like coil or condencer....if you still have a old condencer puy it back in ....if you get a good one that doesen't burn the points leave it in,a good one will last a long time.....

Mine did that on one of my C's and it was a bad condenser.

I wouldn't suspect the governor if it'll get up to working speed and stay there for a while, and if you hadn't replaced it I might cast an eye to the coil. Two thoughts. How about the vent on your fuel cap. It might handle the drain of an idle, but not the draw of higher speeds. Also, does the M carb have one of those really fine screen filters on the fitting where the lline goes into the carb like the smaller engines do? If so, it doesn't take much to clog that and make the sort of trouble you describe.
